Ministry of Education (MoE)

Ministry of Education (MoE) is committed to gender equity in its scope of work and services. With the financial support from the World Bank under Education Quality Improvement Program (EQUIP), MoE EQUIP Gender team has taken another initiative to support women through internship opportunities.

Education Quality Improvement Program (EQUIP II) is a World Bank supported initiative extended until 2015. The project development objective is to increase equitable access to quality basic education, especially for girls, with expected project benefits for 7 million children including 3 million girls. Since gender equity across all sectors of the economy and society is defined as a national target, MoE has a particular strategic role, as the educational system is tasked with producing all the educated girls and women required to implement the national targets across all sectors. Impressive and important gains have been achieved in terms of enrolment of girls, recruitment of female teachers, opening of girls’ schools, but many important issues need to be addressed, which requires that gender mainstreaming be considered a corporate responsibility of MOE.

Believing on women empowerment, this internship opportunity is being created to provide fresh female graduates with limited or no work experience, join different departments in the ministry of education (MoE) and excel in their expertise to make a career in the future. For this we are looking for a women candidate willing to:

a. Work on real process and practical tools, which are supporting current MoE strategies?
b. Be a part of dynamic and multifunctional teams with on-going coaching support?
c. Receive appropriate training and design tools to successfully contribute towards the implementation of national projects?
d. Able to use your initiative and willingness to design, develop and implement projects?

The Management Internship Program (Year 2014-2015 or the duration that it is being planned for) is set to provide opportunities for women to get exposed to various programme departments at MoE, develop knowledge and skills as well as gain the experience that can contribute to their success in applying and securing positions within the Ministry or outside. MoE is promoting fresh graduates or university graduates with less work experience. The program is open to women graduates from Afghan and abroad universities. The Management Internship Programme is a six months program, which starts in June 2014.
